I helped my daughter sell raffle tickets outside a large department store, to raise funds for her school trip to France. I was humbled by the generosity of many people who were not interested in the raffle prize - they just wanted to help my daughter.
It was an enlightening experience. It showed me that spontaneous generosity to a stranger is a sign of spiritual maturity. Would I have been so generous in the same situation? I want to practice the art of giving to strangers: generosity is spirituality in action.
