The dark night of the soul

Silver Birch discusses the painful reality of when we hit our rock bottom on Earth...

'The soul cannot come into its own until it is touched. This usually means when it seems to the individual there is no hope in his world, no light, no guidance to be found. The abyss of despair has been reached, the fear that he or she will be plunged into the depths and not recover. It is at that moment that the soul can be awakened.'

I relate completely to these words. As you may now know, I haven't touched a drop of alcohol in twenty five and a half years. I know all about the abyss of despair. I also know about the miracle of the life that is possible if you crawl out of that abyss into the sunlight – one day at a time.
