I believe in prayer. I pray every morning for a list of people, including drinking alcoholics, people with serious illness, and people who are struggling in their lives. My spirit guides said this morning that prayer is potent: it really works.
When I pray for people, I say their name aloud and picture their face in my mind. I think of these prayers as spiritual hugs because often - especially with active alcoholism and cancer - there is nothing I can do to help them apart from pray.

We are just our thoughts and beliefs
Last night I read something that gave me an Aha! moment. Anita Moorjani crossed to the spirit world in a near death experience through cancer. 'In the NDE state it looked like my physical life was just a culmination of my thoughts and beliefs'. She fully recovered.
For me, it's confirmation that my body is just a shell and I am really the soul. And what is soul? 'It's a culmination of our thoughts and beliefs'. When you take away your body, that's what is left: your thoughts and beliefs. That is you. What is your real you like??

Inspiration from a person with cancer
I spoke to an older friend this morning on the phone - she has cancer and had just taken the first pills in her chemotherapy regime. She said that as she swallowed the pills she said to her husband: 'Let the battle begin!' What an inspiring attitude to a challenging journey...
We discussed how everyone has challenges in their life; it's an unavoidable part of being alive. It's not what happens to you, rather how you deal with it. If you have a fighting spirit plus gratitude for loving family and friends, your journey will be rich and rewarding.

Sarva Mangalam: All is blessing
My daily meditation includes the Buddhist saying - 'Sarva Mangalam: All is blessing.' I believe it means that every experience is a blessing. It's hard to accept that concept when life gets tough - how can a bitter marriage breakup, bankruptcy, cancer, be a blessing?
The blessing is in the opportunity for spiritual growth. You came here to test yourself frequently and thoroughly. You will fully understand the point of 'Earth school' when you welcome life's heartaches because of the spiritual growth they bring...
