How one book can change your life forever

Around 25 years ago I picked up a book that changed my life forever: Shirley MacLaine's Out On A Limb. It was a radical book at the time - a Western woman writing about reincarnation - and Shirley unlocked the door to spirituality for millions of people worldwide.

Before I read her book I was a lost soul, searching for the meaning of life. Since then I've read hundreds of spiritual books, each revealing more fascinating details of God's plan. Now I write spiritual ebooks myself - and one, due out soon, is titled 'God's Plan For Earth'.

God's plan of reincarnation is fair and equitable.

If you regularly read this blog you will know that I believe we live many lives. I cannot believe that this is our one and only life. Imagine all the regrets, the unfinished business, the half-realized dreams. To only live one flawed life (we are all imperfect) would be cruel.

God's plan of reincarnation for Earth is fair and equitable. We make the mistakes, we pay the price (karma). We do the work, we get the goodies (spiritual growth). That's the simplistic viewpoint; the reality is a lot more complex. Underpinning all our lives is God's love for us.

Stand back and get the biggest perspective of all...

When you feel overloaded by your life, it is really helpful to stand back and get a bigger perspective. The biggest perspective of all is remembering that this is just one lifetime in a long line (maybe hundreds) of lives you have lived over many thousands of years.

You survived all those lifetimes, and you will survive this one, too. I am feeling increasingly detached from small daily worries. Does it really matter if I buy the wrong size sheets? The most important concern is my spiritual growth, and I am doing the best I can....

Live, laugh and know 'this is temporary'...

Reflecting on last week's column, I was concerned it sounds gloomy. Even though my soul is weary I still enjoy life. I value the importance of laughter with good friends, and appreciate how lucky I am to have friends who give their love and support freely.

I have many years left to fulfill my soul purpose, and when death comes it will be a blissful release from Earth negativity. It is not morbid to talk openly about death; it's just like flying overseas (without the plane!). So live, laugh, and know 'this is temporary'...
