Time flies when you are having fun...

As I write TV scripts I am amazed at how quickly time flies. I get so absorbed that I truly lose track of time. It's a sharp contrast to the job I had recently when I was being bullied - I watched the clock constantly and was depressed by the slow passage of time.

Time flying means that you are happy and productive. It also means you are fully engaged in your soul purpose. At work are you a clock watcher or is time passing quickly? If it's the latter, congratulations. If it is the former, think seriously about moving on...

Every experience is a blessing

I like the Buddhist expression 'All is blessing'. I meditate on it every day. It means that every experience is a blessing because it contains the opportunity for spiritual growth. There is no such thing as good or bad experiences: each event has its lesson for you.

If you are going through a tough patch, teach yourself to find the silver lining. Are you ill? Use this down time to do some spiritual reading. Are you depressed? Force yourself to take action and reap the benefits. Life, every aspect of it, is a daily priceless gift.

Never give up: regroup and start again

We are having a harsher winter than usual - more rain, wind, cold temperatures. I have not walked or done yoga for several days because I have been cold and unmotivated, slightly depressed even. Today the sun is finally out and I can regroup, get back on track.

The Dalai Lama's words are in my mind: "No matter what is going on around you, never give up." I am dealing with stressful situations and I get despondent, but I refuse to give up. The sun always rises, even on cloudy days. We too, can rise to life challenges every day.

Follow the joy - it shows your life purpose

Yesterday I stood on the house site at our new block of land and felt pure joy. The sun glistened on the estuary, it was peaceful, and I knew that I had found my true home.

Joy is the soul's pure state. Therefore when you experience joy it is a sign you are on the right path. Conversely, when you feel depressed it is a sign that you have strayed from your soul purpose. Look to joy as your soul purpose indicator.
