For years I have struggled to do yoga regularly. I strongly believe in its value, but have not had the discipline to stick at it - the time of day has never seemed right. That all changed this morning. I got up 15 minutes earlier and did a short yoga session as the sun rose.
I know now that I can do it every weekday morning. I am so thrilled to have made the commitment. I have prayed and meditated for 15 years; yoga will become just as pivotal to my life. I want to keep my body flexible and healthy so I can fulfill my soul purpose on Earth.

Life on Earth is about constant change
Many years ago, I feared change. I only felt secure when everything around me was familiar - job, home, routines, people etc. Then I discovered that life on Earth is about constant change. It's designed that way so we have plenty of opportunities to grow spiritually.
As I stand on the threshold of another big change (career), I am going through the usual mixture of apprehension, excitement, and doubts. But it won't stop me doing it. This new direction feels completely right. It is me - the true soul me - and this is my soul purpose.
When you have such surety in your life, even though the choice seems scary, have the courage to follow it with all your heart.

Don't put off facing your problems - do it now.
Further thoughts from 'Why You Are Who You Are by Graham Bernard: 'The way to come to grips with our problems is to face up to them. The vague feelings of unrest and discontent...the difficulties...the compulsive urges... the misery of day to day living...all are indications of unsolved problems.'
As I read that, I realized that I have made huge progress in recent years. I used to put off dealing with difficulties, which caused much self-pity. These days I face problems head-on, and work hard to find solutions. The result? Serenity, and renewed faith in my soul path.

A wonderful life is your soul purpose
I'm re-reading 'Why You Are Who You Are', by Graham Bernard. He channeled spiritual messages from his dead friend, Richard. These words struck me: 'What would be the most wonderful situation in the world to you, not superficially but deeply? What are your real desires?'
Your answers reveal your soul purpose for this lifetime. The most wonderful situation you can imagine is, quite simply, the fulfillment of your plan. Are you close to achieving your soul plan? Make changes, move forward, have faith. I'm doing all I can to achieve mine...

It's good to be fully alive...
It's good to be alive...
My life is a miracle because over 25 years ago I was a hopeless drunk. Harsh words, but you can't pretty up alcoholism. Today I am sober, emotionally well and spiritually aware. I care about many people and enjoy the love of a special few (you know who you are).
To be fully alive it is vital to be free of addictions. Alcohol, smoking, drugging, gambling, eating, caffeine, technology, work - if you are dependent on any of these for your emotional well-being, it is time to let go. Please do it soon: your soul purpose awaits...

Your soul purpose is whatever today brings
I was standing at the kitchen sink this morning, thinking about the day ahead. I will meditate, do washing, make phonecalls, write my new book, see two quit smoking clients, pick up my daughter from school, do yoga, and pray/think often about a friend in crisis.
Then it hit me: this is my soul purpose! Today's activities, which have been 'sent' to me, are my life purpose for today. Everything that happens on Earth is part of the bigger picture - God's plan. So accept willingly the tiny piece of plan you are responsible for today.

Your soul purpose is obvious through clues
Yesterday morning I woke at 3.30am and knew instantly what I want to do: I want to help people quit smoking. I used to work as a quit smoking coach and loved it, but sadly couldn't get funding to continue. I have decided to do it privately.
I have always loved writing and helping people - my soul knows that's what I came here to do (I have a new book idea too!). When I work in those two areas I am progressing my spiritual growth. Today I feel closely aligned with my soul purpose and full of hope. What about you?

What is my soul purpose for today?
I thought today's purpose was a spiritual study group I am leading tonight. But I am also spending time with my sick teenage daughter. She is reading 'Clara's War' about a teenage Holocaust survivor. It has opened her eyes to the appalling suffering of the Jews.
My daughter and I pored over an atlas, discussed the Nazi invasion of Europe, pondered how so few people could massacre so many. She is learning about the depths of cruelty and heights of compassion of humanity. This has been my - unplanned - soul purpose for today.

Follow the joy - it shows your life purpose
Yesterday I stood on the house site at our new block of land and felt pure joy. The sun glistened on the estuary, it was peaceful, and I knew that I had found my true home.
Joy is the soul's pure state. Therefore when you experience joy it is a sign you are on the right path. Conversely, when you feel depressed it is a sign that you have strayed from your soul purpose. Look to joy as your soul purpose indicator.
